In 2011, the aSSIST-SUNY SB Program was reorganized and reborn as i-MBA.

By the request of former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science & Technology, Myung Oh, who proposed the cultivation of exclusive global-standard techno managers in accordance with rapidly changing domestic/international business environments, the State University of New York at Stony Brook (SUNY-SB) and the Graduate Institute of Management at the Seoul School of Integrated Sciences and Technologies (aSSIST-GIM) developed a joint program integrating business management and engineering. First launched in 1999, the Program grew yearly to be the most competitive program in Korea, incorporated with Stony Brook¡¯s outstanding academic resources and aSSIST¡¯s efficient school management.

This program combines Core MBA for business practice and competency development with Technology Management for Technology Specialists. Also, the program aims to provide practical as well as intellectual tools for engineers and technical specialists who are moving into managerial positions, and who need to complement their technical expertise with general business, organizational and strategic management capabilities.

2012 i-MBA Admission

This program aims to cultivate outstanding talent in companies through Departments formed by Contracts(*Special words only in Korea-Just directly translated) to offer a more effective and efficient education since 2010. Therefore, only employees of the company members of KCCI (the Korea Chamber of Commerce & Industry) can apply for this program. (A contract of commissioned education would be required if the applicant¡¯s company is not a member of KCCI.)
So, individual applicants are not applicable for this program, unless they receive their employer¡¯s support for his application for the i-MBA program.

Program Eligibility

  • - Bachelor¡¯s degree or its equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university is required
  • - 3 years of work experience
  • - Employee of a member of KCCI (The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry)
    [Additionally, a contract of commissioned education is required if the applicant¡¯s company is not a member of KCCI]
¡Ø All qualifications are required.

  • - Company Sponsorship Letter
  • - A copy of the applicant¡¯s academic transcript
    * Total number of credits/units, GPA score, and the type of grading scale (eg: 4.3 or 4.5) must be indicated.
    * Applicants who have transferred schools more than once are to submit academic records from all schools.
    * Applicants with two or more majors are to submit all academic records.
  • - Confirmation of health insurance qualification
  • - A copy of SUNYSB¡¯s own applications (fill out in SUNYSB homepage)
    ¡Ø All documents must be submitted.
    ¡Ø If undergraduate GPA is lower than 3.0/4.0, a recommendation letter by a person at CEO-level is required.
