Program Overview
Course Introduction

In recent times, various generative AIs, including ChatGPT, have experienced explosive growth. As more individuals and businesses delve into AI-driven businesses, numerous legal and regulatory issues, lawsuits, ethical and moral dilemmas, and the need for regulations in development and usage that were previously unforeseen are emerging like a flood.

However, legal professionals, lawyers, government officials, and corporate legal personnel who need to address legal, regulatory, and litigation issues related to AI often possess only surface-level knowledge. On the other hand, experts who specialize in AI engineering lack sufficient understanding of legal and regulatory matters, limiting their ability to provide practical assistance on AI-related legal issues. In response to this, the AI Legal Engineering master's program aims to enhance the understanding of essential engineering and technical aspects of AI for legal professionals while equipping AI engineers with in-depth legal knowledge to effectively address upcoming regulatory challenges, thus handling AI issues for sustainable business—a unique initiative as the first AI Legal Engineering master's program in the country.

Features of the Program

1) Fundamental Engineering Competencies for AI and Big Data

Understanding basic statistics through Python programming language and R, engineering comprehension of various AI deep learning algorithms, and gaining knowledge on diverse applications and techniques necessary for data collection, storage, visualization, etc.

2) Machine Learning and Deep Learning Algorithms

Learning the principles and algorithms of various deep learning algorithms in fields such as AI computer vision, personalized recommendations, text mining, LLM-based generative AI, reinforcement learning, GAN image generation, based on Python code. Students will learn how to build and optimize learning models using these algorithms.

3) AI-related Legal Courses

Analyzing legal issues related to AI and copyright, analyzing issues related to AI and personal information infringement, analyzing issues related to AI and corporate security and leakage, understanding fair use laws related to AI, understanding and responding to digital crimes, global regulatory trends and responses to digital economy and business, ethical considerations related to AI, and researching practical legal issues such as lawsuits and regulatory cases.

4) AI Legal Seminars and Networking

To enhance and leverage the experience and expertise of students, most of whom are seasoned professionals in various fields, monthly AI legal seminars are held, allowing active networking among current students and graduates. These seminars include participants from various fields such as the legal profession, public institutions, regulatory agencies, corporate legal and planning departments, AI-related business representatives, engineers, etc., fostering a vibrant networking environment and promoting the sharing of business and AI issues or projects.
